Yearbook is a year long class comprised of 7th and 8th grade students. This year the yearbook will be created digitally using InDesign and Photoshop software. The yearbook staff will be responsible for choosing the theme for the yearbook, writing all articles and contributing photographs.
Students will be graded on participation, how well they meet deadlines, writing assignments, photography assignments and the completion of a yearbook curriculum workbook. Due to the varied nature of producing a yearbook, each one of these skills may be weighed more heavily throughout the year. For instance, if photography is the main focus for a few weeks, a higher percentage of the grade will be allocated to that skill during that time, while a lesser percentage will be allocated to writing. None of the grading components have a set percentage. An example of the grading scale that I used at the end of last year follows:
Participation/Contribution
25%
In this example, at another time of the year, Misc. Assignments might be replaced by Photography.
